January 12, 2022
Over the past number of days, we have been planning our position in relation to the Coronavirus and this planning has now escalated in light of recent communication.
In regards to SFAM training, we would urge participants to monitor and engage with your participating pool to understand their position on continued operations and opening hours. You can see pool updates that we are aware of at the bottom of this news piece.
Unfortunately the March Technique Clinics have now been cancelled.
We are hopeful that the first SFAM Event of 2020 (April 8th) along with the full event schedule will continue as planned, however we will continue to monitor the situation closely and will advise all participants immediately if the situation changes. If any other recommendations or advice becomes available through the appropriate authorities regarding events and or access we will also provide further advice to our participants. Please continue to monitor the Swim For a Mile website, social media and your emails for further updates.
Participants should follow the advice that has been provided by the appropriate agencies regarding the best way to minimise the risks to infection as well as what you should do if you feel unwell and are developing symptoms. This can be found in greater detail within the links below;
On a lighter note, our latest update included a statement from the HSE;
“Adherence to current recommended disinfection practice is sufficient to inactivate COVID-19 virus in chlorinated swimming pools“
So the pool could be the safest place for healthy S’Milers! And let’s remember, these are precautionary measures acting in accordance with government advice to minimize the spread of this flu virus.
We will continue to update this list as the information becomes available.
