Since the announcement from the Taoiseach on March 12th we have been preparing contingency plans for Swim For a Mile (SFAM) events. Latest public announcements around Coronavirus and it’s impact across Ireland, suggest an uncertain few months ahead. Please know that we are working to cover all possibilities and provide the opportunity for you to complete your swim in a safe and enjoyable environment. Things will become clearer as time moves on.
Presently, we are working on the following contingency plans with our participating pools;
SFAM events to take place between May 18th – June 22nd (rather than April 8th – May 10th as originally planned)
SFAM events to take place between September 28th – November 1st
In either case, events would take place on the same day of the week and time as your original booking (where possible). We are currently working with pools to extend SFAM coached training once pools re-open, to continue your preparations. We know that you’ve been working hard, pushing your bodies and minds throughout the training so far and will do everything we can to enable this further, once life returns to normality!
All participants will also have the option of completing the swim in your own time, away from a busy event, once pools re-open if this is your preference. Your SFAM goodie bag would be posted to you in this case. Please bear with us as we continue to work with the SFAM pools and in line with government advice.
In the mean time we will be posting some home workout options to keep those endorphins flowing! Give them a go and let us know how you get on or if you would like to see something specific via email, Facebook or Twitter!
This first installment is a simple core circuit for S’Milers stuck at home! This circuit can be used as a morning burner, paired with a swim or walk or a finisher to other workouts! Make it as hard as you like by choosing number of rounds and amount of reps (or time on reps). Adapted exercises are provided for tougher or easier options – keep active & enjoy!
