Swim Faster, with Less Effort!

April 13, 2022

With the 2022 Swim For a Mile training well underway in many event pools we hope that you are all enjoying being back in the water again as we inch closer to the start of the event schedule in June!

As you approach your training this week, we wanted to remind you of the importance of streamlining off each wall to make your swim a little easier and save more energy! During streamline, we are trying to reduce drag and move efficiently through the water. Your head is kept in a neutral position looking to the bottom of the pool, arms are stretched overhead and squeezed tight against your ears, placing one hand on top of the other. Staying tall like an arrow, your toes are pointed, and core is engaged.

By streamlining after each push off, you can carry the power and speed off the wall, directly into the stroke when you start to swim. As you move through the weeks of training, the aim is to travel further off each wall as your body position and efficiency improves!

Check out this video for some drills to try out in the pool this week!
